process

Planting

Before planting our certified organic sugarcane for the first time, we undergo a 3-year transition process to eliminate synthetic fertilizers and chemicals. We use certified organic compost that improves soil quality. Additionally, our cane varieties are not genetically modified.

Irrigation

At Providencia, we care for water, a vital and vulnerable resource. That’s why we use efficient irrigation systems such as gates and pivots, reducing water consumption by up to 48%.

Fertilization

At Providencia, fertilization is key to the production of organic sugar. We apply vinasse and organic compost to nourish the cane and improve the soil. Additionally, we use green manures that fix nitrogen from the air and integrate it into the sugarcane crop.

Harvesting

The green harvest is a highly technical and mechanized process that allows the cutting of sugarcane without any prior preparation that could harm the crop, protecting the soil, air quality, and ecosystems. It also leaves a layer of vegetation, mainly composed of leaves, which can be utilized as a renewable biofuel.

Production and packaging

Our sugar is produced under strict food safety principles. The final step, equally important, is packaging, which we carry out in various formats for both the industry and the end consumer in domestic and international markets.
